The library’s South Terrace underwent significant restoration in 2009 following more than forty years of closure. The new terrace features 16 umbrella tables and 64 comfortable seats that allow library patrons to eat, read, gather or access wireless Internet. The terrace also serves as a location for community functions and private events on the weekends between June and early September. A large central planting bed and several smaller perimeter planters provide a great ambience for eating and relaxing. The picturesque backdrop of the foothills surrounding Wellsville makes the terrace a unique experience.

Tuesdays on the Terrace is not a library fund-raiser. It is an opportunity for local businesses to showcase their culinary talents, and encourage community members to visit Wellsville’s historic downtown district and the library. In 2011, six restaurants participated over a series of six Tuesdays. The average number of lunches served each Tuesday was 90 within the two hours. In the event of rain, restaurants still serve on their scheduled date in the Reference Room on the library’s Main Floor.

This year’s program has been extended an additional two Tuesdays. Lunches will run each Tuesday from July 10 until August 28. Local restaurants and caterers include The Fountain Bistro, Chelsea’s Catering, Jones Memorial Hospital Food Services, Case Catering, Black-Eyed Susan Acoustic Café, Tops Friendly Market’s Deli and the Beef Haus Restaurant.
