|TUESDAYS ON THE TERRACE
Each Tuesday, the menu and pricing is different due to the fact a
different restaurant or caterer will serve. The library provides menus one
week prior to each Tuesday on its website, or at its Service Desks within
the library. Residents can also call the library for information about
this summer lunch program.
The library’s South Terrace
underwent significant restoration in 2009 following more than forty years
of closure. The new terrace features 16 umbrella tables and 64 comfortable
seats that allow library patrons to eat, read, gather or access wireless
Internet. The terrace also serves as a location for community functions
and private events on the weekends between June and early September. A
large central planting bed and several smaller perimeter planters provide
a great ambience for eating and relaxing. The picturesque backdrop of the
foothills surrounding Wellsville makes the terrace a unique experience.
Tuesdays on the Terrace is not a library fund-raiser. It is an
opportunity for local businesses to showcase their culinary talents, and
encourage community members to visit Wellsville’s historic downtown
district and the library. In 2011, six restaurants participated over a
series of six Tuesdays. The average number of lunches served each Tuesday
was 90 within the two hours. In the event of rain, restaurants still serve
on their scheduled date in the Reference Room on the library’s Main Floor.
This year’s program will run each Tuesday from July 9 until August 13. Local
restaurants and caterers include Jones Memorial Hospital Food Services,
Chelsea’s Catering, The Fountain Bistro, Black-Eyed Susan Acoustic Café,
Brian Case Catering, and Pizza King & Sugar Daddy's.
For more information, residents may call the library at (585) 593-3410
or visit the library online at www.davidahowelibrary.org. The library may
also be found online using Facebook, Twitter or Flickr. The David A. Howe
Public Library is located at 155 North Main Street, Wellsville.
