WITH SEARCHING STARCAT |
STARCat
is the combined catalog of the Southern Tier Library System, including the
David A. Howe Public Library and 48 public libraries and reading
centers. Search over 1,300,000 items, including books, audio books, videos and music recordings.
HOW
TO SEARCH

1.
Click any Library Catalog
link in our website. You can also go to the
STARCAT home page and pick Wellsville, David A. Howe Library from the
drop-down menu. Click the
Start
Your Search button. |
2. On the Quick Search screen, enter a word of phrase in the
Search For box.
3. Click on a Search In button:
Everything,
Authors,
Titles,
or
Subjects.
*You can also
limit your search to only our library or by publication year. |

TIPS
AND HINTS
*Ignore
capitalization or punctuation.
* On
the Quick Search screen, use the Library drop-down menu to
limit to only our library's items.
*Searching
by keyword allows you to enter keywords in
any order. This is very helpful if you're not certain of the exact title,
author, or subject.
*Click
underlined words, More
by this Author, or More
like this links on the Full View display to link to related
searches.
*An
Advanced Search lets you combine search terms, perform Boolean searching,
limit searches, and search by call number.

On the Search Results page, scroll to find the item
that you want.

Click the item's
Details
button to find the call number, more information, or to place a hold.
*You can click on
Limit Search
to limit by language, type of material, publication year, or library.
*If no matches are
found, you may change your search or select a new search from a list of
close matches. |
 6. On the
Item Identification page, look at the holdings to view the call number,
location and availability.
Click the
Hold
button to request an item that is checked out or owned by another library.

Find More... links to link to related

for more item information and related subject headings. |
