SEPTEMBER 19, 2006
The David A. Howe Public Library will host a free community lecture
tonight that will discuss current events in Lebanon. The lecture is the
second half of a two part lecture series sponsored by the library.
This evening’s lecture will be led by Mr. John Sayegh, the director of
the Greater Olean Chamber of Commerce and former citizen of Lebanon.
Mr. Sayegh intends to discuss the history of the Lebanese and Israeli
conflict and provide insight as to why the conflict exists. His lecture
will focus on Lebanon’s current political environment and the
socioeconomic control of the Hezbollah regime.
It is Mr. Sayegh’s personal belief that war is not the answer and that
there are better options for the Middle East.
This will be Mr. Sayegh’s first appearance at the David A. Howe Public
Library, but not his first time presenting this viewpoint. Mr. Sayegh
spoke last Thursday at the Cuba Circulating Library on the same topic.
Cuba Library director Cindy Dutton stated, "Mr. Sayegh is an excellent
speaker who has a unique ability to engage his audience. The folks in
Wellsville will be really pleased with his lecture."
The community lecture will take place in the library’s Monday Club Room
at 7 pm.
