ON THE LIBRARY |
JANUARY 7, 2003
The coming of the new year means many things for us, not least of all
having to remember to sign checks and other items with the new, current
year of 2003! Maybe you make New Year’s resolutions, or at least think
about things in your life you’d like to change or look at more
closely. Whether you make an official list or not, the David A. Howe
Public Library offers a significant choice of nonfiction on subjects
that many of us think about around the beginning of January.
Taking time for you is something that many people struggle to find
time for. Julia Cameron, the guru on personal creativity, has a new book
out entitled Walking In This World: the Practical Art of Creativity
(153.35 CAM). Continuing in her tradition, Cameron outlines steps people
can take in everyday life to nurture and help express their creativity
within. You don’t have to be a professional actor or artist to be
creative day to day and Julia Cameron can help you see that in your own
life.
In Take This Job and Thrive (650.1 BRU) Anita Bruzzese
explains, and what’s more, she illustrates how to get the most out of
your job. Bruzzese suggests alternatives to just "letting your
career ‘happen’ to you" and advises "actively seeking ways
to make it something you enjoy and want to do" (70). Let 2003 be
the year that you conquered your job frustrations! |

inspiration and help. As the editor of Prevention magazine,
Alexander is in a great position to relate stories and explain the ins
and outs of enjoying food in moderation and making sensible decisions
