| SPOTLIGHT
ON THE LIBRARY |
| MAY
21, 2002
For months and years on end you may
routinely see the same faces smiling to greet and help you as you
approach the front desk at the David A. Howe Library in Wellsville. It
may be reassuring to see the familiar staff members, but now you, the
public, have the opportunity to get to know three new, helpful members
of the library circulation staff—Ann Giddings, Ursula Gray, and Emily
Barney.
The face of Ann Giddings is a welcome
addition to the circulation staff at the David A. Howe Library. Ann may
be familiar to some of you and your children as she was previously
employed by the Howe Library as a part-time assistant to Lois Bulgur in
the children’s section. Ann came to Wellsville from Wheaton, Illinois
in 1999. She holds an Associate’s Degree from the College of DuPage in
Glen Ellen, Illinois as an x-ray technician. Until last month, Ann
worked in her field at the Olean General Hospital. In the fall Ann hopes
to continue her education by obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree. Ann has an
eleven year-old daughter and enjoys spending her free time with family.
This summer you will have the opportunity to see Ann at the David A.
Howe Library circulation desk on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
mornings. |

| Ursula Gray is a
pleasant addition to the circulation staff at the David A. Howe Library
and is a lifetime member of the community of Wellsville. Through her
previous employment at the Wellsville JCPenney’s, Fleet Bank, and
Kiddie Kampus, Ursula may already be familiar to many of you. Ursula
obtained a Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Fredonia in Elementary
Education. Ursula is the mother of three children who currently live in
North Carolina and Florida. When she’s not working at the library
Ursula enjoys reading and is an avid collector of teddy bears. You will
find Ursula at the front desk on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
during the afternoon this summer.
Emily Barney has been a member of the
community of Wellsville since birth and it may not be unusual for you to
see her face in the public library, as she has been an avid library user
since early childhood. Attending SUNY Geneseo for four years supplied
Emily with a Bachelors of Arts in English Literature and led the way to
enrollment in the University at Buffalo in their Library Science Masters
program where she is focusing on services for young adults. For the
summer Emily can be found working at the Howe Library Monday afternoons
and evenings and Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings and afternoons.
Her time will be spent in front desk clerk duties as well as keeping the
public informed of what’s happening and materials available at the
David A. Howe Library through her columns in the Wellsville Daily
Reporter newspaper. |
