| HELP WITH HOLDS |
| HOW
TO PLACE A HOLD
A current cardholder in good standing at the David A. Howe Public
Library may place holds on most items in the STARCAT online public access
catalog to reserve items that are currently checked out or are located at
other libraries.
1. Click any
Library Catalog
link in our website. Pick Wellsville, David A. Howe
Public Library from the
drop-down menu. Click the
Start
Your Search button.
2. Search STARCAT to find an item on which you want to place a hold.
In the Results List or on the Full View From Catalog screen, click on the
Place Hold
link.

Holds
may not be allowed on some items such as (NonCirculating Reference materials).
Holds may be placed only by patrons of the owning library on some items (many New items). Check with your local library for more
information.
You may not request or renew materials if you have outstanding fines or
overdue materials. Contact the library to clear your account.
Holds on our library's items are filled on the day following the hold
request. Most holds on other library's items are filled in about seven
days. Holds on popular items may take longer to fill.

3. On the next page, enter your library card number, your PIN (the last
four digits of your home phone number), and double-check that
your pickup location is correct. Click on Place Hold.
4. After your hold is placed Click OK to return to the previous
page.
Your hold request will go out to an owning library to be filled. When it
arrives at our library, we will call you so that you can pick it up.
You can use the Login to My Account boxes at the
top right of a STARCAT page to place holds without entering your library
ID number, PIN, and pickup library for each hold.
