Howe Library Website	TRUSTEES AND STAFF There are many people who work to serve you. All are vital parts of the whole that is the David A. Howe Public Library. Trustees Donald Comstock, President Genevra Miller, Vice President Robert Heywood, Treasurer Penny Canfield, Secretary Tom Brown, Beth Farwell, Diana Figenscher, Jim Knapp, Connie Synakowski Full-time Staff Mary Jacobs, Director Lois Bulger, Children’s Librarian Allison Midgley, Technology Coordinator Melody Fanton, Principal Clerk Darlene Sherwood, Senior Clerk Part-time Staff Emily Barney, Peter DiBiase, Anne Giddings, Ursula Gray, Ann Kemp, Louann Pawlak, Debra Razey, Floyd Reynolds, Richard Stanton	OUR MISSION The library’s main goal is to offer the public access to various forms of information without charge. Informational and popular interest items can be borrowed from the library’s extensive collection of over 100,000 items. The library also offers access to many electronic resources. A secondary goal of the library is to provide programs and services to encourage students, beginning at the preschool level to read and do research. Lastly, the library invites the use of its facilities as a meeting place for cultural and social events and the spread of knowledge.
VOLUNTEERS During 2002, volunteers of the library donated 478 hours of their time in shelving books and videos, sorting periodicals, mending books, maintaining database files, and doing a variety of clerical tasks.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY The Friends of the Library is an auxiliary group of volunteers that assists the library. The Friends buy books, videos, and compact discs for the library. The generous support of the Friends also makes possible the annual tree trim, story hours, and summer reading programs. Anyone may join the Friends of the Library by making a financial contribution.
